Friends of the Library

Who Are We?

The Friends of the Library is an association of community members who value our Library.  We have been demonstrating support through membership and volunteer participation since 1990.

What Do the Friends Do?

Our goals are to raise funds for Library collections, equipment and special projects; build membership; encourage donations; and provide advocacy.

Exactly What Have the Friends Done So Far?

Friends have worked tirelessly over the years fundraising for the current Library and advocating for a new one.  Friends money bought the Library's very first CD ROM equipment--in those days it cost $6,000!  In the past 3 years alone, the Friends purchased over $18,000 in equipment and collections.  Here's a sampling of what the Friends have bought over the years:

New DVD collection (2010)
Planter boxes at the Library entrance
Club lounge chairs (2010)
Computer and public area chairs (2009)
Computers (2009/10)
Workroom desks and chairs (2009)
Daisy readers for the visually impaired
Public area tables
Carpets and cushions for kids
Book carts

How Can You Join Us?

If you love the Library and want to make a difference, becoming a Friends member is a wonderful way to do just that!  Friends members enjoy the company of like-minded people while volunteering to support a service that benefits everyone in the community.  We’d be happy to have you join us.

Plus, Friends members who volunteer at one of our book sales get to pick out 10 free books from the sale.

If you are interested in joining the Friends, please email friendsprpl@gmail.com or leave your name and contact information at the Library Service Desk.

Come join us and be a Friend!
