Gifts of Materials
Many generous people like you donate materials to the Library.
We receive many donations and appreciate them very much. Because of the high volume of materials all of you donate, we ask you to limit your gifts to items that are in top condition and newer than 10 years.
We review all donations carefully to determine if they are suitable additions to our collections. Anything that we do not add is donated to the Friends of the Library for their book sales which benefit the Library.
Before you make your donation check them over and if you can answer YES to any of these questions, perhaps it is time to recycle them:
- Do your books smell musty or mouldy?
- Are there any traces of insect or animal activity?
- Are the pages yellowed or torn?
- Is the book soiled or otherwise deteriorated?
There are also some materials we do not accept regardless of condition, including:
- Reader’s Digest Condensed Books
- Computer books more than 2 years old
- VHS Videotapes
- Cassette tapes
- Magazines older than 1 year
- Unlicensed or pirated copies of anything
